people are just nicer on the river
March 22, 2010.

Vacation was more pleasant than I had expected it to be. I think thats partly due to where we were, and the people that live there. As former Mississippi River rat, I have a theory that river folks are a different breed, and whether it is down in Missouri or Southern Iowa, over in Savanna, Illinois, or up in Minnesota, they always seem to be such a pleasant lot along the big river. Makes any visit so much more pleasant.

Of course, its also possible that people are pretty nice everywhere but this cesspool of humanity called SE Wisconsin.

Anywayit was a very nice spring break. The weather was pretty good overall (with the exception of a snowstorm on the first day of actual spring), I managed to get some much-needed clothes shopping done (work slacks, new underwear, and even a couple of spring sweaters), we ate very well (the casino actually had items like pot roast, swiss steak, and liver & onions on the buffet!), I had a modicum of luck at the slots, and Spouse got three new Harley-Davidson dealer shirts for his collection (Twin Cities, Winona, MN, and Lacrosse, WI).

And when the state trooper in Pewaukee pulled him over for speeding AND failing to signal lane changes, all he got was a warning.

Once we got home from Minnesota, we just spent a few days relaxing. We gave the B a bath, did our usual weekend housework list of shopping/cooking/cleaning/laundry/baking, I spent loads of time playing FarmVille and Pet Society, we went shopping (without luck) for new living room art, and for a project, I cleaned out and organized my lingerie drawer.

I also managed, somehow, to totally f*ck up my glasses, and now I need to take them in for adjustment, since they are sitting on my face at roughly a 20-degree angle. And with my prescriptionand bifocalsthats enough to make me all nauseous and headachy. Which is why this post ends here.
