can't get it in gear
Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, 8:17 AM

Time to leap into action, and attack the basement. Except I'm really not motivated. But it needs to be done. I gave the upstairs a light going over yesterday, morning, and then Spouse came home from work and we rolled out for errands. Menards for cleaning supplies and project stuff (He really needs to finish getting the ceiling fan up in the bedroom.)

Then a stop to visit a friend who just had major jaw surgery. The broke her jaw on both sides and repositioned it, and then screwed it together to hold it. She's pretty banged-up looking, swollen and still quite numb. She was glad to get a visit, though, because she's supposed to be speaking to exercise it.

After that, we committed the ultimate folly of going to Woody's on a Saturday afternoon. It was a zoo, and they are remodeling right now so it is impossible to find anything, so I was pretty crabby by the time we got done shopping.

When we got home, I put the groceries away and did some wash, while Spouse made his special chop suey recipe for dinner. And after dinner, we went to Racine because I'd informed him that the Ren and Stimpy DVD was out, and he got all excited. We went to BB, where they were out. So we went next door to CC, where they didn't have it yet. So we went next door to B&N, where we had to pay more, but at least they had it. That's the nice thing about going to Racine for this; three movie stores in a row. We came home, stopping so he could get ice cream, watched a little bit, and then he went to bed. I surfed awhile, read some more at Wes Clark's "Avocado Memories" pages, and then went to bed about 11.

I slept in this a.m., then had some coffee & toast, played with Raji, and wrote this. Now I have to climb into work clothes, and get my ass in gear. Spouse it meeting with JR at the moment, to pilot him over to a guys house for a brake job. JR bought a van for "A Tribe Called Request", as we call them. It needs brakes, so JR is taking care of it. Like he takes care of everything for that worthless, ungrateful user. Oh well, it is his life, and he has his reasons, I guess.

And sometime today, I still have to find time to work on my appraisal. Ugh.
